Explore our Falls

Akron Falls Park is a 284-acre park in the Village of Akron and Town of Newstead. A major feature of the park is a scenic 40-foot waterfall on Murder Creek, a small stream that flows through the park. After you are done exploring the falls come into town and enjoy some shopping and great food too!

Year Round Activities

Summer - Bicycling, hiking, photography, and fishing. The park contains and basketball court and 2 tennis courts. Swimming is not allowed.

Winter - Ungroomed cross-country skiing daily from 10:00AM- dusk, snowshoeing daily from 10:00AM- dusk, sledding daily from 10:00AM- dusk and ice skating daily from 10:00AM- 8:00PM.

Explore The Trails

Explore this 0.8-mile out-and-back trail near Akron, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 18 min to complete. This is a popular trail for cross-country skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

When you take a ride to Akron Falls, you'll take notice of the lush moss, ferns and dense forest that surround the cliffs. Here you can breathe the mystical breeze as the water cascades over the falls especially in the fall season.

Akron Falls Park is one of the older parks in the County's overall system. It was initially built as a Village Park in the early 1930s, but was later acquired by Erie County in 1947.
